With more than 100 million tracks, Spotify offers one of the most comprehensive libraries! While there are a lot of music streaming sites out there, Spotify continues to dominate the market.
Spotify has evolved a lot over the years & introduced a number of new features. But, here’s the thing: Not a lot of people know about the hidden Spotify features that can elevate their streaming experience.
So in this guide, we will share with you 7 hidden Spotify features that you must try today! Since these features are only for Premium, you can buy Spotify accounts from U7BUY if you are still on the free tier.
1. Data Saver Mode
This feature is literally a lifesaver for data conscious users. So, if you are always worried about running out of data, you must try this feature on Spotify.
Here’s how to enable data saver mode in Spotify:
Launch the Spotify app.
Open Settings by tapping on gear icon.
Tap on the Data Saver.
Enable the “data saver”.
This option will set the music quality to low and help you save data. According to Spotify, you can save up to 75% data with this option. But if you have an unlimited data plan and you prefer high-quality audio, then it’s best to keep this feature off.
2. Podcast Transcripts
Spotify launched the transcript feature on selected podcasts in 2021. It was a huge success, and from fall 2023, it’s available for almost all the podcasts.
The transcripts are auto-generated & are available for almost all podcasts. You can access this feature by clicking on the Episode Transcript button. You will find it below the episode description.
Once enabled, you can see the full transcript of the episodes. This is a great feature for those Spotify users who also like to read while listening to a podcast.
3. Download to Listen Offline
Spotify Premium also gives you the option to download albums, playlists, and podcasts. Once downloaded, you can listen to them offline (no need for the internet).
Just open the content you want to download and then tap on the download icon. For playlists, you need to tap on options (3 dots icon) and then choose download. To remove downloads, you just need to tap on downloads icon once again.
To only download content using WiFi, follow these steps:
Open Settings in the Spotify app.
Tap on Audio Quality.
Turn off the “Download using cellular” option.
You will have to get online at least once a month to keep downloads active. This way, Spotify can verify your account and subscription status.
4. Start a Jam
Do you always wonder what your friend’s musical taste is? Then you should try Spotify’s Jam feature! This one allows you to enjoy group DJ sessions directly inside the Spotify app.
To start a Jam, tap on options (3 dots icon) on a playlist. Then, choose the “Start a Jam” option. This option allows other users on the same WiFi network to add new stuff to your playlists.
If you have guests, they can also join by scanning the QR code from your phone or by tapping the devices together.
5. Assisted Playlisting
Another hidden Spotify feature is Assisted Playlisting. In this, AI-powered machine learning is used to make playlists for you.
To get started, make a new playlist by entering a name. Now, Spotify will analyze what you have written as the playlist name and then give you recommendations.
As you add the songs to a playlist, the app will dynamically start to give you more recommendations based on the songs you have added. So, if you have yet to experience the AI stuff, then you should try the Assisted Playlisting.
6. Filter Liked Songs
When you like a song, it’s added under a special “Liked Songs playlist” in Spotify app. But if you have liked a ton of songs, then the playlist will get really massive.
But, here’s the thing: You can filter the liked songs playlist based on the mood or genre. Although this will not give you the exact song you want, you can still filter it to some extent.
To use this, open the Spotify > Your Library. Next, find and tap on Liked Songs. You will see available filters at the top.
7. Share Parts of a Podcast
Spotify is no longer just about songs, as there are also 6 million+ podcasts on the platform. But we all know that podcasts can be lengthy and how tough it is to share some parts of them.
However, Spotify makes it real easy to share a specific part of a podcast. Here’s how to share a podcast from a certain timestamp:
When listening to an episode, tap on the share button.
You will see a “share from [timestamp]” option.
Turn it on and then share it on Instagram, Facebook, etc.
Now, when the next user opens your shared link, the podcast will start from the specific timestamp.
